ILD - June 2020

International Lolita Day is celebrated twice every year, marking the beginning of summer and winter for both hemispheres so everyone has the chance to plan their outfits accordingly.

Last ILD I hosted a tea party at my house and invited a few friends over. But considering the current state of the world, virtual meet-ups are going to be the norm at least for the rest of the year (and maybe for the next one as well). This time I'm planning to join the Bows Magazine Loliday Tea Party. It's going to be held in Zoom, which is great because you can use the app on a desktop or a cellphone depending on your preference. I'm probably going to use a cellphone, since it's easier to take it with you if you want to go to another room or do something else! 

El International Lolita Day (Día Internacional del Lolita) se celebra dos veces al año, marcando el inicio del verano e invierno para los dos hemisferios, de modo que todos tienen la oportunidad de planear sus outfits de acuerdo al caso.  

El ILD pasado organicé un tea party en mi casa e invite a algunos amigos. Pero considerando la coyuntura actual, las reuniones virtuales serán la norma por el resto del año  (y posiblemente del que viene también). 

 

Esta vez estoy planeando asistir al Bows Magazine Lolita Tea Party. Se realizará en Zoom, lo cual es genial ya que se puede usar la aplicación ya sea en una desktop o desde el celular dependiento de lo que resulte más conveniente. Yo probablemente use mi celular, ya que es más sencillo llevarlo contigo si decides ir a otra habitación o hacer algo más. 

I don't have a special outfit planned for the occasion. I usually wear lolita once a week, no matter if I'm going out or staying at home, so I go through all my pieces once and then repeat, changing up the accesories in the next rotation. I have favorites, of course, and I own some pieces I like but not as much. 

There's this set I got when I was just starting which could be a good option since it includes a bonnet. At the time I liked what I saw in the stock photos and the price was a real steal. When I received it, I realized you basically get what you pay for. The dress looks okay-ish when worn, but sadly it feels cheap at the touch (let me know if you want a detailed review of this dress with better pictures!)

I've always wondered if maybe I should sell it, since I don't wear it that much and I don't have many things that match it. I kept it because it used to be my only true classic dress, but I'm always wondering if it's time to let it go. Before taking the decision, I want to see if I could coord it differently and maybe like it more.

No tengo un outfit que haya planificado especialmente para la ocasión. Normalmente uso lolita una vez a la semana, sin importar si salgo a pasear o me quedo en casa, por lo que trato de ir usando una a una todas mis prendas y luego repito, cambiando los accesorios en la siguiente rotación, o adaptándolos en caso se trate de una fecha especial. Obviamente tengo vestidos favoritos, así como tengo otros que me gustan, pero no tanto.  

 

Tengo un set que compré cuando estaba aún iniciando y que podría ser una buena opción, ya que incluye un bonnet. En el momento me gustó lo que vi en la foto de stock, y el precio fue una muy buena oferta. Cuando lo recibí me dí cuenta que en este caso se cumplió lo de que básicamente obtienes lo que pagas. El vestido se ve relativamente bien al ser usado, pero se siente barato al tacto (coméntenme si les gustaría una reseña al detalle de este vestido con mejores fotos). Siempre me pregunté si tal vez debería venderlo, ya que no lo uso mucho y no tengo muchas cosas que le hagan juego. Lo he conservado hasta ahora básicamente porque en algún punto era mi única pieza classic, pero siempre me debato sobre si es hora de dejarlo ir. Antes de tomar una decisión, quiero intentar coordinarlo de diferente manera y tal vez de una forma que haga que me guste más.

I have yet to get a proper lolita long sleeved ivory blouse. For the moment, I will be using this Zara one to see if somehow I can make it work. The chest area has beautiful embroidery, but since it doesn't have a collar it could use a necklace for balance. I also added a brooch to make the front bow look a little more fancy. As you can see, the main color is a weird warm grey that clashes with solid black. It would probably make a better match with brown but I don't really own anything of that color yet.

I also want to try with gold shoes. As soon as the postal service starts working again I will order a pair (send me a message if you want to share a taobao order!).

Looking at the pictures, maybe a black bag matching the shoes could help make the weird contrast a little bit less obvious.... 

Aún me hace falta conseguir una blusa marfil de manga larga que sea propiamente lolita. Por el momento, usaré esta de Zara e intentaré hacerla funcionar. En el pecho tiene un bordado muy bello, pero ya que no tiene un cuello, podría agregarse un collar como complemento. También coloqué un broche en el lazo del frente para hacerlo ver un poco más elegante. Como pueden ver, el color principal es un gris cálido algo raro, por lo que contrasta mucho con el negro sólido. Probablemente combinaría mejor con marrón, pero aún no tengo accesorios de ese color. También quiero intentar con zapatos dorados. Tan pronto como se regularice el servicio postal, estaré comprando un par (¡Envíame un mensaje si quieren compartir un pedido de taobao!). Observando las fotos, tal vez una cartera negra que combine con los zapatos ayude a que el contraste con el vestido sea menos obvio... 

 

As you can see, I'm still not quite convinced about this coord, but I have my mind set on using it for ILD. I'm tired of having this jsk in my closet and not doing anything with it! So, wish me luck. Specially since the last few times I tried I have ended up changing outfit completely at the last minute. Do you also have pieces you kinda regret buying? Do you try to give them a chance or try to get rid of them inmediately?  

Como pueden ver, aún no estoy del todo convencida con este coordinado, pero estoy decidida a usarlo para el ILD: ¡Estoy harta de tener este jsk en mi clóset y no hacer nada con él! Así que, deséenme suerte. Especialmente porque las últimas veces que lo he intentado he terminando cambiando mi outfit completamente al último minuto. ¿Ustedes también tienen alguna prenda que casi casi que se arrepienten de haber comprado? Y si es así, ¿intentan darle una oportunidad o tratan de deshacerse de ella lo más pronto posible?
